‘Same person or group behind attacks on Hyderabad policemen’

City Police today said a particular organisation or a person was responsible for the series of attacks on its personnel in which two policemen were killed and as many injured since December 2008.

Hyderabad: City Police today said a
particular organisation or a person was responsible for the
series of attacks on its personnel in which two policemen were
killed and as many injured since December 2008.

"Same weapon was used in the attacks including the latest
Shah-Ali Banda incident and two previous firing incidents on
policemen. The forensic examination report has said that the
same weapon was used in all the three attacks which means that
a particular agency or a person is behind the attacks,"
Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan told reporters here.
Now the suspicion has further got strengthened that in
all the three cases suspected terrorist Viqar Ahmed had a
role, the top cop said adding, "Even now I am not saying 100
per cent that he (Viqar Ahmed) is behind attacks on policemen,
but he or some agency connected with him has done it."

Alleged ISI activist Viqaruddin alias Viqar Ahmed alias
Viqar Ali Khan, who was suspected to have opened fire on the
sleuths of Counter-Intelligence Cell at IS Sadan in December
2008 injuring a head constable, was also allegedly involved in
the shooting at Falaknuma on May 18 last year.

In the Falaknuma incident in the second anniversary of
Mecca Masjid bomb blasts, a homeguard died and a police
constable sustained injuries, Khan said.
