Formation of separate Telangana state would be the only solution to the crisis over the vexed issue, TDP leaders from the region told the Sri Krishna committee.
Hyderabad: Formation of separate Telangana state would be the only solution to the crisis over the vexed issue, TDP leaders from the region told the Sri Krishna committee.
"The safeguards given to Telangana were not protected. The agreements and promises made to the region like six-point formula, gentleman`s agreement, Government Order No. 610 that deal with proportional representation of locals in jobs have all become a part of history. No formula is going to work. Only separate Telangana would solve the problem," senior TDP leader N Janardhan Reddy told reporters late on Tuesday.
Reddy and other senior TDP leaders from Telangana including G Vijayarama Rao, a former CBI director, made a power-point presentation to the Sri Krishna committee members on the need for formation of separate Telangana.
The TDP leaders from non-Telangana regions yesterday told the committee members to keep the state united.
Meanwhile, the `Samaikyandhra` Joint Action Committee (JAC), striving for united Andhra Pradesh, also presented its case before the committee members.
"We told the committee that the state should be kept united. The human resources and other natural resources should be used effectively for the inclusive growth of all three
regions in a united state," J Samuel, Convener of the Samaikyandhra JAC, said.
NTR Telugu Desam leader N Lakshmi Parvathi, wife of late N T Rama Rao, Jamiat Ulema Hind and few Telangana outfits also presented their views before the committee today.
