Smriti Irani to lay foundation stone for IISER, IIT, IIIT in AP

 HRD Minister Smriti Irani will lay the foundation stone for three premier educational institutions - Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Information Technology - in Andhra Pradesh on March 28.

Hyderabad: HRD Minister Smriti Irani will lay the foundation stone for three premier educational institutions - Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Information Technology - in Andhra Pradesh on March 28.

The function will be held in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

IISER Tirupati would be mentored by IISER Pune, which was the first to be established in 2006. The institution will initially function from a temporary campus until the permanent one comes into existence, a state government statement said.

It said IIT, Tirupati would be established in an area of 590 acres at Meralapaka Village in Yerpedu Mandal near Tirupati in Chittoor district.

IIT Madras will mentor the Tirupati campus along with the new institution in Palakkad, Kerala, the release said.

IIIT is being set up at Sri city, Satyavedu mandal in Chittoor district.

"The presence of world's leading companies in Sri city will provide great opportunities to the students and faculty of IIIT for research and internships," it added.

This IIIT would also focus on research in the areas of ESDM (Electronic System Design & Manufacturing), automotive electronics, cloud computing, data analytics, technologies for smart cities, supply chain & logistics, clean energy and aerospace, the statement said.
