TDP leader organises rally in support of Telangana

The rally, however, was not organised under the TDP banner but a few party MLAs from Telangana region attended.

Hyderabad: Senior TDP leader Nagam Janardhana
Reddy organised a public rally in his native constituency
Nagarkurnool in Mahbubnagar district this evening in support
of separate Telangana state.

The rally, however, was not organised under the TDP
banner but a few party MLAs from Telangana region attended.

There was talk that Nagam, a five-time MLA, would quit
the TDP over the statehood issue but he maintained today that
there was no question of leaving the party.

"The rally is intended to send a message that the TDP is
not against the creation of Telangana state, as being
projected by some forces. Telangana state will become a
reality only through a concerted struggle," Nagam said.

The rally attracted good support with leaders of
different Telangana outfits, including the Non-Gazetted
Officers Association, taking part.

TDP MLAs R Chandrasekhar Reddy, Jaipal Yadav, P Ramulu, K
Harishwar Reddy, S Venugopalachary and senior leader K Vijaya
Rama Rao attended the event.

Meanwhile, a group of Telangana TDP MLAs led by Errabilli
Dayakar Rao met their chief N Chandrababu Naidu and requested
that a co-ordination committee be constituted to take up the
statehood issue.

"Chandrababu responded positively to our proposal and the
co-ordination committee will be put in place soon," Dayakar
Rao said.
