TDP MLAs demand recall of Andhra Governor

Over 20 TDP MLAs and senior leaders were taken into custody after they staged a sit-in outside the Raj Bhavan here on Friday.

Hyderabad: Over 20 TDP MLAs and senior leaders
were taken into custody after they staged a sit-in outside the
Raj Bhavan here on Friday demanding that the Centre immediately
recall Governor E S L Narasimhan, alleging that he was
"anti-Telangana".

Telugu Desam Telangana Forum convener Nagam Janardhana
Reddy led the protest.

The TDP MLAs and senior leaders squatted on the road
and raised slogans against the Governor. "Political Governor
go back, go back", they shouted and alleged that the Justice
Srikrishna Committee report was prepared against Telangana
only at his behest.

"The Governor is unduly interfering in political affairs
and running the state. He is playing politics," Nagam alleged
and demanded the Centre should immediately recall Narasimhan.

The TDP legislators said the Congress has once again
betrayed the people of Telangana. "The Srikrishna Committee
report did not reflect the truth. It was prepared as per the
dictates of the Government of India and Congress leaders from
Andhra-Rayalaseema," they said.

They also demanded that the Central para-military forces
deployed in Telangana be withdrawn forthwith.

Senior MLAs E Dayakar Rao, Mandava Venkateswara Rao and
senior leader Kadiyam Srihari were among those taken into
custody by police.
