Hyderabad: Holding Congress MP Y S Jagan
Mohan Reddy responsible for on Friday`s violence at Mahabubabad in
Warangal district, the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC)
called for a bandh in the region tomorrow.
"Had the government taken preventive action, all this
would not have happened. Jagan and MLC Konda Murali are
responsible for the incidents at Mahabubabad," JAC Convener C
Kodandaram told agency.
"Telangana youth sought an apology from Murali and a
clash took place there," he alleged.
The Andhra Pradesh Government failed to prevent the
violence as it wanted to satisfy the ego of one individual
(Jagan), Kodandaram claimed.
Sixteen people, including eight policemen, were injured
in the violence.
He called for a shutdown in Telangana tomorrow in protest
against the incident.
Defying high command`s directive, Jagan left for his
`Odarpu Yatra` in Warangal district in Telangana to console
the families of those who allegedly committed suicide
following the death of his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
The young MP left for Mahabubabad to kick-off his six-
day tour by Hyderabad-Guntur Inter-City Express from the
Secunderabad railway station in the morning.
The train was, however, stopped at Vangapalli village
in Nalgonda district following a bomb scare. Jagan was brought
back to Hyderabad by road in view of the violence at
Mahabubabad railway station.
Violence erupted at Mahabubabad station as pro-
Telangana agitators attempted to block Jagan`s tour, leading
to police firing.
Pro-Telangana activists vandalised the Mahabubabad
railway station where Jagan was supposed to alight at 11 am.
There was heavy stone-pelting and the mob attacked Congress
MLA Konda Surekha and her MLC husband K Murali, who were
waiting to receive the MP.
The legislators` security personnel immediately
whisked the couple into a room in the railway station and
opened fire to quell the rioters.
However, the mob continued the stone-pelting leading
to a clash between them and the Congress workers who came to
receive Jagan. The Congress MP from Kadappa has expressed its
opposition to statehood for Telangana.
