Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Government
today asked Additional DGP (CID) A Sivanarayana to probe into
the recent incidents of violence on Osmania University (OU)
campus here.

Over 20 persons, including students, journalists and
police personnel, were injured during the violence that broke
out at the campus on Sunday night and yesterday. Police used
canes and lobbed tear gas shells to quell the agitating pro-
Telangana students who hurled stones on them.

The injured persons have been asked to contact the
office of the Additional DGP over the violent incidents and
media persons requested to bring the video clippings and
photos covering the incident.

Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, who held a high-
level meeting at the secretariat this evening, appointed
Additional DG (Law and Order) M Ratan to investigate into the
attacks on journalists in the State. She also asked Hyderabad
Police Commissioner A K to look into the police action against
journalists at the OU campus.

The Minister assured necessary action once the report
on the violent incidents was submitted. Reddy said she would
once again hold talks with journalists and police officials
tomorrow over the OU incident.
