Alleging that students who protested against TDP chief`s visit to Telangana were attacked by anti-social elements, TRS on Monday called for a shut down in Ranga Reddy district tomorrow.
Hyderabad: Alleging that students who protested against TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu`s visit to Telangana region on Monday were attacked by anti-social elements,
TRS on Monday called for a shut down in Ranga Reddy district tomorrow over the issue.
"The students were attacked by anti-social elements from Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions at Parigi in Ranga Reddy district. We appeal to the people of the district to observe bandh tomorrow," A Chandrasekhar, TRS in-charge for the district, said in a media release.
TRS activists allegedly hurled stones at the convoy of Chandrababu Naidu when he was proceeding to Mahbubnagar in the Telangana region on Monday, leaving some TDP workers and media personnel injured.
Tension prevailed in Parigi as police chased away the protestors who raised slogans against Naidu and in support of Telangana. A police constable also received head injury in stone pelting. The TRS workers demanded that Naidu should clearly spell out his stand on separate Telangana state.
A TDP leader accompanying Chandrababu Naidu alleged that TRS workers and a few BJP men mobbed the residence of Parigi MLA K Hareeshwar Reddy when the TDP chief stopped for breakfast.
Following this, police immediately swung into action, cane charged protestors and chased them away. Later, the Leader of Opposition continued his tour and addressed a public meeting at Tunkimetla.
Naidu was on his way to Mahbubnagar district to interact with farmers on the fertiliser scarcity being faced by them.
