Hyderabad: Two workers from Bihar were killed and eight others sustained burn injuries on Sunday in a boiler explosion at a steel factory in Nalgonda district, police said.
The incident occurred at Nimaragondla village around 7.45 am when the boiler suddenly exploded after catching fire apparently due to gas leakage in the production unit, they said.
Surendra, an operator, died on the spot while another worker identified as Balarama breath his last while undergoing treatment at a hospital here, an investigating officer said.
Eight other workers who suffered burn injuries after the explosion were shifted to a private hospital at Chandrayangutta in Hyderabad.
All the victims hail from Bihar`s Nawada district, he said.
The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
"We feel the incident is the result of negligence. A probe has been ordered and stern action will be initiated against those found guilty," another official said.
Bibinagar police is investigating the case.
