UP couple with country-made pistol held at Tirumala

Tirupati: A teenaged couple from Uttar
Pradesh was arrested for possessing a country-made pistol and
two live cartridges at Aliperi, at the foothills of Tirumala,
the abode of Lord Venkateswara.

The 19-year old boy and 18-year old girl, hailing from
Arya village in Fatehpur District, told police that they were
carrying the pistol for protecting themselves from one of
their relatives, police said.

The duo said they bought the pistol from a friend in Uttar
Pradesh.

TTD security officials seized the weapon from the two at
the security check point at Alipiri, they said.

Fatehpur police had been informed.
