Rajahmundry (AP): A 75-year-old woman was killed and around 200 huts devastated after a major fire broke out at Harbour Peta in East Godavari district, police said.
B Appayyama was charred and another woman, V Muthyalamma, was injured in the incident in Kakinada Port area when the blaze started around 2.30 PM today.
Both were taken to Kakinada Government General Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire was not yet known, official sources said, adding that around 400 people were rendered homeless due to the fire.
District Collector Neetu Prasad has directed the district administration to take immediate steps towards the rehabilitation of the affected people.
