Woman Maoist surrenders in AP

Karimnagar: A 40-year-old woman Maoist,
carrying a cash reward of Rs five lakh surrendered before the
police here.

According to Karimnagar District Police Superintendent N
Shiva Shankar Reddy, the outlaw, identified as Burra Vasantha
belongs to Nallamala Forest Area Protection Committee and
surrendered yesterday.

She hails from Togarrai village in Sultanabad mandal and
joined the then PWG at the age of 14 years.

Vasantha has been working with the group since 1987 and
is a underground Maoist. She was married to one Chinna alias
Madhav, who was working as the group`s Andhra region
Secretary. He was killed in an encounter in Nallamala Forests
in 2006, the police official said.

The surrendered Maoist said she was being neglected in
her group of late, which prompted her to make the decision.
