Ongole: Late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has found a permanent place in the hearts of people as he had implemented welfare schemes that no other Chief Minister in the country ever did, Congress MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy said tonight.
Highlighting the welfare programmes like low interest loans, old age pensions, Rs 2-a-kg rice, reservations for Muslims, Jagan said the schemes benefited everyone in the state in some way or other.
"He had shown, not just to the state, but to the entire country, how a Chief Minister should be. He is still alive in the hearts of people. I am proud to be his son."
The 37-year-old Kadapa MP was speaking at Kondepalli village in Prakasam district during his ongoing `Odarpu (consolation) yatra`.
Jagan, who has attacked TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu in the last couple of days, refrained from making any political speeches on Friday. Notwithstanding the reservations of the Congress high command, Jagan had resumed his controversial yatra on Friday
last in Prakasam district.
Describing him as a "misguided youth" who was feeling emotional about the death of his father, the high command has indicated that it is not going any action against him for now.
