Assam: Missing SSB jawan in ambush rescued

Kokrajhar: A SSB jawan missing in the ambush by NDFB anti-talk faction in lower Assam's Kokrajhar district on Monday, has surfaced in a remote village but his condition was in stated to be critical.

Sashasthra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan Radhyasham during the ambush at Lalmita under Kachugaon police station got separated from his colleagues and was in the jungles without food and water since then, official sources said.

The jawan with his service rifle in a critical condition on Wednesday reached remote Dharmapur village and urged a villager to take him to the nearest police station.

He had been admitted to hospital for medical treatment, the sources added.

Two SSB jawans belonging to its 31 G company, were killed in the ambush by militants when they were on patrol duty in a vehicle on the Indo-Bhutan border.

Bodies of deceased jawans, Subhash Ranjit and Bhagat Kumar, were recovered but Radhyashyam had remained untraced till yesterday, the sources said.

Earlier on March 14, a BSF patrol party was ambushed also by the NDFB anti-talk faction in nearby Ultapani area killing five jawans.
