A special operation group meeting of the counter insurgency Unified Command Friday reviewed the overall security situation and the recent acts of violence by militants in Assam.



Guwahati: A special operation group meeting of the counter insurgency Unified Command Friday reviewed the overall security situation and the recent acts of violence by militants in Assam.

The special operation group meeting held at the Army Red Horn Division headquarters also resolved to initiate strong measures against the militants to bring peace and harmony in the region, a defence official said.

At the meeting held under the aegis of the Gajraj Corps, its GOC directed his field commanders to extend all possible support to the state administration in bringing back normalcy, while at the same time carry out relentless operations against the perpetrators of terror, he said.

The meeting was attended by all members of the Operational Group comprising Army officers of the Gajraj Corps, senior functionaries of the state, including Home Commissioner and Secretary L S Changsan, DGP Khagen Sarma, senior officers of Assam Police, intelligence agencies, SSB, CRPF, BSF and Superindentent of Police of Darrang and Baksa districts, he said.
