Guwahati: Launching an attack on Hagrama Mohilary-led Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Peoples` Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement (PJACBM) on Friday said the autonomous body failed to fulfill aspirations of the people.
Opposing any kind of referendum to know peoples` view regarding separate Bodoland, PJACBM demanded creation of the state and threatened to launch a 1,000-hour economic blockade if Assam government does not initiate the process soon.
"BTC has failed to fulfill the peoples` aspirations. The BTC leadership has failed in presenting the political aspirations of the people of Bodoland," PJACBM Convenor Bhraman Baglari told reporters here.
He said the BTC agreement was forcefully imposed upon and it was against the wishes of the people of Bodoland.
When asked why PJACBM does not join hands with Mohilary, who is the Chief of BTC, Baglari said: "Till the time Hagrama is in government, separate state cannot be achieved."
The separate statehood movement will continue till the demand is met and a 100-hour bandh will start from August 13 if Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi does not organise a tripartite meeting with the Centre, he said.
PJACBM claims to be a platform of 55 different groups representing different communities living within the proposed Bodoland state.
