Guwahati: A city court on Saturday remanded Burdwan blast accused Shahnur Alam to 14 days judicial custody.
Alam, alleged to be the financial brain of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terror group was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) with the help of central security agencies from Nalbari district of Assam on December 6.
The NIA, whose probe into the October 2 blast in the West Bengal district received a boost after the arrest of another accused Sajid, had been tailing Alam for quite some time after his name surfaced in the call records and interrogation of the arrested accused person, PTI reported.
The investigating agency had last month arrested his wife but Alam had been on the run since the blast.
Alam, one of the main operatives of the JMB in Assam, had been absconding from his house in Barpeta district's Chatla village since October this year.
The accidental blast took place at a house in Burdwan's Khagragarh area, killing two JMB militants and injuring another.
Assam police had termed the arrest of Alam as a big catch as they hope to get vital details about the Jihadi organisations operating in the state, including their cadre strength, financial transactions and other details.
