CPI(ML) bandh affects life in Tinsukia district

Tinsukia: The 12-hour Assam bandh, called by CPI(ML) demanding CBI probe into the killing of its labour leader Ganngaram Kaul, affected normal life in Tinsukia district and some tea garden areas of the state on Friday, official sources said.

Party supporters blocked the local Ledo-Dibrugarh passenger train for four hours near Panitola in Tinsukia district. Police persuaded the protestors including members of the All Adivasi Students Association and All Tea Tribes Students Association, to withdraw from the track and allowed the train move from 1 pm, the sources said. CPI-ML has demanded a CBI probe into the murder of the 44-year-old leader on March 25 and compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the labour leader`s family. The party demanded that those named in the police FIR be arrested immdiately. Chabua`s Congress MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Rajib Sahu and five others were named in the FIR filed by CPI-ML Tinsukia district unit secretary Subhash Sen. Kaul had contested the Lok Sabha election from Dibrugarh constituency in 2009, besides the state assembly polls twice from Chabua constituency in 2006 and 2011. PTI
