New Delhi: The government is considering according Scheduled Tribes status to five communities in Assam.

This and some other priorities and areas of action of the new government are likely to figure in a presentation the Home Ministry is planning to make to Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this week or early next week.
The Home Ministry has also decided to bring to a logicial conclusion the ongoing talks with various rebel groups like ULFA and NSCN, according to a note prepared by the ministry.
The proposal to set up two auxiliary police battalions, with around 1,500 personnel, to provide police training and impart job oriented courses to surrendered militants for their future rehabilitation in various central forces and other jobs will also be a part of the presentation.
