About 500 people, under the aeigis of the CPI(M), demanded that suffient essential items be provided to the people and fodder for domestic animals.
Shouting slogans they also wanted the breached embankments of Nona, Borolia and Puthimari rivers to be repaired immediately.
The people also demanded that a minister and the district deputy commissioner visit Rangia to solve their problems.
The blockade for several hours stranded hundreds of vehicles of both sides of the road, official sources said.
