Guwahati: Assam Government will soon
adopt a land policy for the state incorporating various
issues relating to land settlement to landless people, poor
marginalized section and those affected by floods and erosion.
In a statement here on Saturday, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi
said a committee would be formed to frame the policy by going
into the gamut of issues relating to the land policy.
Pointing that the Government has all along been
working for the interest of the indigenous people, the poor
and marginalized segments of the society, he said, foreigners
would not be allowed to acquire land deed at the expense of
the indigenous people.
