Guwahati: Huge quantities of arms and
ammunition have been seized and an Inspector of Railway
Protection Security Force (RPSF) arrested in this connection
from a train at the Guwahati Railway station on Thursday, police
said.
Acting on a tip-off, a special patrolling team of the
Railway Police seized the arms and ammunitions from the
Guwahati bound Down Shatabdi Express from Dimapur and arrested
an Inspector of the RPSF, Kuljit Singh Sandhu while two other
jawans managed to escape.
The ammunitions seized, mostly made in Belgium, Italy
and Austria, include 70 rounds of ammunitions of AK-47 and
.303 rifles, three nine mm pistols along with 40 rounds of
ammunitions and seven mobile sets.
Investigations were on and further details awaited,
sources added.
