Shillong: Sudesh Kumar, an IPS officer
of Kerela cadre, has taken over as the Inspector General of
Border Security Force`s Assam and Meghalaya Frontier.
Kumar, after taking over charge as IG yesterday,
emphasized on need for effective border management to prevent
trans-border crimes, maintaining cordial relation with the
border population, respecting human rights and welfare of
troops, a BSF statement said on Sunday.
The 1987 batch officer earlier had a stint in the CISF
where he served as DIG. He had also played a major role in
raising the present day National Disaster Management
Authority, the statement said.
The officer also has had one of the most prestigious
assignments in UN as "Police Commissioner" in Congo.
