Tezpur University VC's term extended by 5 years

Tezpur: Tezpur Central University Vice Chancellor Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri has been granted an extension for five years.

The university's Controller of Examinations Bhubaneshwar Saharia told a news agency that Chaudhuri's new term would start from May 21.

President Pratibha Devi Patil had sent a letter recently directing the University Grants Commission (UGC) to extend Chaudhuri's term.

Chaudhuri took over as the VC of Tezpur University in May 2007 and his current term is slated to expire on Monday.

The Tezpur University was set up in 1994 by the union government as per terms of the Assam Accord.

Ex Student - Tezpur
I convey my greetings to Honourable VC sir for his next term. He has been able to draw money to tezpur university for infrastructure developement works. But his contribution towards developing `quality of education` is somewhat felt less than what it should have been. Also, this fact cannot be ignored that some of his personal favourite students are now employed in TU as assistant professor, cultural officer etc. Anyway, as a leader he has been able to maintain good control and discipline in the university. For that I personally like him. Except this I have nothing to say about him. I hope in his next term, our dear tezpur university shine more than ever.

The violation of code of conduct was referred to Dr. Bhubaneshwar Saharia, Examination Controller of Tezpur University who in turn claimed that he was not involved in any of such matters. Field observers report suggests that there is direct involvement - interest of four higher ups in the series who dared to undermine rule of law for their connectivity in PMO and the power they enjoy. There is no monitoring on Media - Reporting but for every item published must be examined for its authenticity before taking it for consideration. Since this report is published first on Zee NEWS, certainly the reporter would have examined the truth of declaration by Tezpur University Authority. Dr. Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri has filed a defamation case of fifty lakhs against me for asking Madam president to look into the anomalies because of him before any further consideration for second term and simultaneously drew attention of CVC and CBI. CVC registered complaint against him on 01. 06. 2012 and thus Dr. MKC filed defamation case against me in Sonitpur District Court. In fact he is near and dear to H. E. Shri Pranab Mukherjee because of setting up of ISI in TEZU campus and also to Mr. Kapil Sibal together with a lobber Dr. Goverdhan Mehta. Thus every thing is possible but rule of law is there. Both the political figures are time bound servant but such cases are permanent to suface. Very soon several hundred university outside country will derecognize his name and seal as VC of TEZU. Arrangement is in way. We are waiting for Court Judgment. Even a rupee punishment is sufficient to push him to walls for the information sent was duty bound and to visitor of the same university. Further CVC and CBI are watch dog. How long he will run. I am waiting for last thirty years just to see to whta extent Dr. Mihir Kanti Chaudhury, Dr. Anil C Ghosh and Dr. Goverdhan Mehta run. In fact they are running to save nose from rule of law and watch dog agencies of GOI - the reason why they are taking help of HEPM and KS.Regards

Prabin is right! If he is a student of TU, he deserve a scholarship, if he is stuff of the university he deserve promotion and if he is a contractor he deserve a good contract from the University. His comments on the existing VC reflects his lack of knowledge about the background of Tezpur University. The fruits we are looking at Tezpur University is nothing but the result of the plantation by Dr. K.M. Pathak and Prof. M.N. Baruah on 1994. Of course we should appreciate the initiation of honorable VC sir for his work on removing the + sign of NACC accreditation B+ of the University.

Giving a 2nd term for the same vc in same university is not a good idea. This has been resisted by all central universities across India. I heard that he is very anti-assamese and favors the people of his own lobby/community. If that is the case, then a second term might be a wrong decision for the interest of TU community.

The discussion and issues brought about the current VC of TU is related to administartive issues...and please do not pass communal comments..it is a centrl university where we students come from all over India...it is a seat of learning doesnt matter what caste, gender,community we belong to....so there is nothing liek anybody is anti-assamese, etc...the allegations that have come up are more from the managment, recruiment point of view and nothing else..and if anamolies are proved action will be taken...

I would first like to convey my heartfelt congratulations to our honorable VC Sir for his next term.Sir in the real sense, a great motivator of mankind. We are really inspired by his perfectness towards excellence in various fields.Being in the world of technology, Mankind has always been striving for excellence in different areas to make the SHORT SPAN of human life comfortable to the utmost possible. This is where we seek a Visionary who could direct us in the right way , guide us to avoid distractions and work towards our main objectives.In this sense, VC Sir`s Term extension is really a blessing in disguise. I further feel it is the perfect judgement that might have taken.Thanking again for the Right choice.

I am utterly shocked with such a decision and the way Mr. Prabin Haloi is reacting without knowing the reality about him. This will be clear after next 5 years of his tennure and you will certainly repent realizing that the person whom you are worshipping as a God is actually a devil which many of us actually experienced in reality. You should ask yourself the question what exactly he contributed in TU in last 5 years? please don`t use the word like `visionary` for this type of people.... he is not a visionary at all! don`t be emotional and live in the world of imagination, come to reality and give me to the point answer on what he actually changed in TU in his last term. This decision was politically motivated and will prove to me most disastrous to the people of Assam. I, myself is a victim of his most unprofessional and autocratic rule in TU.

Parbin Haloi, is right! If he/she is a student of Tezpur University, he/she deserve a scholarship from the university. If he/she is a working stuff he/she deserve a promotion and if he/she is a contractor then he/she deserve a good contract from TU. Very shallow knowledge about the past of Tezpur University lead him/her to comment like this. As far as we know I fruits of development is nothing but the result of the plant planted by Dr. K. M. Pathak and Dr. M. N. Baruah in 1994. The existing VC does not deserve any appreciation in this regard. He only deserve the appreciation due to down gradation of the NACC accreditation of the University.
