Two GNLA militants killed in Assam

Two suspected GNLA militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Balaikhamar in the district, police officials said today.

Goalpara (Assam): Two suspected GNLA militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Balaikhamar in the district, police officials said today.

The two ultras, believed to be part of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) based in neighboring Meghalaya, were killed last night in an exchange of bullets with the security forces, during a joint operation by the police and Army's 7 Jat Regiment of the Red Horns Division.

Two 7.65 mm pistols, 9 cartridges and three grenades were recovered from the slain extremists, they said.
