Diphu (Assam): Two Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militants were killed and another apprehended during a joint operation by army and police in Assam`s Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday.
The joint operation was launched near Tentaghat area. The two militants were killed and another held in an encounter that followed, police said.
A pistol and 20 rounds of ammunitions were recovered from the slain militants, they said.
Patrolling and security arrangements have been intensified in the district following intelligence reports that KPLT militants may create disturbances in the state in the run-up to the Independence Day.
