Patna: LJP on Saturday urged the Election Commission to take strict action against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy S K Modi for allegedly putting party hoardings on electricity poles and government buildings in various constituencies in the state.

"Throwing the provisions for model code for elections to the winds, Kumar and Modi have got several hoardings with their photographs and party symbols fixed on electricity poles and government places in several assembly constituencies in the state," a delegation of LJP leaders which met the Chief Elctoral Officer here said.

Stating that the Commission had "overlooked" the glaring instances of violation of the model code of conduct by Kumar and Modi, they demaned strict action against them.

The five-member delegation of the party which submitted a memorandum to the Chief electoral Officer S K Rakesh, was headed by its General Secretary Dr Satyanand Sharma.
