Maoists set on fire campaign vehicles of two candidates

Gaya: Maoists on Thursday set on fire two campaign vehicles of as many candidates in Bihar's Gaya district, a senior police official said.

About ten rebels intercepted Guruwa assembly constituency's Independent candidate Rajendra Singh's campaign vehicle in a location between Vishunpur and Dhanauti village and poured kerosene on it before setting it on fire, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amit Lodha said.

The ultras, however, left six supporters of Singh unharmed by allowing them to get out of vehicle before setting it ablaze, he said.

In a similar incident, another group of Maoists set afire campaign vehicle of the JD(U) candidate from Tekari assembly seat Anil Kumar in Laxman Bigha village under Konch police station area after asking his supporters to get out of the vehicle, the SSP said.
