Patna: The Bihar government today
admitted in the assembly that a total of 2.04 lakh
applications were pending consideration under the Social
Security Pension Scheme.
Replying to a short-notice question of senior ruling
BJP MLA Amrendra Pratap Singh, state Social Welfare Minister
Pavrveen Amanullah said her department received 9.51 lakh
applications for pensions under the scheme during the period
2011-12.
"About 5.98 lakh applications have been disposed of,"
Amanullah said adding they are contemplating to distribute
the pension amount to the beneficiaries from block offices in
place of the post offices from the next fiscal year (2012-13).
She said around 2.04 lakh such applications were under
consideration or in the process of disposal at present.
