80,000 Bihar lawyers to stay away from work for two days

Around 80,000 lawyers across Bihar will observe a two-day cease work from January 31 to press for abolishing evening courts in the state.

Patna: Around 80,000 lawyers across Bihar
will observe a two-day cease work from January 31 to press for
abolishing evening courts in the state.
Holding of evening courts, introduced by Patna High
Court, was not possible in the state due to lack of necessary
infrastructure, Bihar State Bar Council Evening Courts Special
Committee chairman Rajednra Prasad Singh said here.

The decision on the ceasework was taken at an emergency
meeting of the Committee during the day.

``The power supply across the state is erratic and it
increases the problems of lawyers in participation of evening
proceedings,`` Singh said.

One evening court each in 30 of the total 38 districts
in Bihar is functional since December 6, 2010, he added.
