Al-Qaeda militant claims being close to Taliban chief

Al-Qaeda militant Gulam Rasool Khan alias Mirza Khan has confessed to having close association with Taliban chief Mullah Omar who had `inspired` him to become a Jehadi, police said on Saturday.

Mirza, who was arrested here on Tuesday while trying to
cross over to Bangladesh, also claimed to have associated more
than 1,000 youths with Al-Qaeda.
The militant, who made the revelations during
interrogations in police remand, said he was given the
responsibility to associate the youths with the terror outfit
after he joined it and visited Dubai, Pakistan, Nepal,
Bangladesh and Vietnam for which he had received funds.

Mirza also disclosed that he was a polyglot and knew many
Indian languages including Urdu, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu,
Kannada besides English.

When contacted Superintendent of Police N H Khan said
Mirza was in police remand for five days which would expire
tomorrow and was being interrogated by a team of police
officials with help from several agencies.
Al-Qaeda man no to veg

Al-Qaeda militant Ghulam Rasool
Khan alias Khan Mirza, who was formally arrested in Purnia in
Bihar while trying to sneak into Bangladesh border on Tuesday
last, has an unusual demand.

"Provide me two kg of mutton and one kg of chicken daily
in meal else I will sit on hunger strike inside Purnia jail",
the militant informed the jail authorities.

Jail authorities said Mirza refused to take vegetarian
food served to him for two days after he was lodged in the
jail on Tuesday saying he was a habitual meat eater

Confirming this, IG (Prisons), Bihar, D Kumar said "We
will, like other prisoners, serve meal to the prisoner in
keeping with the jail manual."

"But, at the same time, we will abide by any court
directive in this regard", he said.

Mirza, 66, alleged to have close links with Taliban in
Afghanistan, was undergoing interrogation in police custody
since yesterday, official sources said today.
