An alert has been sounded across Bihar following intelligence inputs that the three militants who escaped from a New Delhi hospital might try to leave the country through border areas in the state.

Patna: An alert has been sounded across
Bihar, particularly along areas bordering Nepal, following
intelligence inputs that the three militants who escaped from
a New Delhi hospital might try to leave the country through
border areas in the state.

"We have alerted all the police stations across the
state ... Policemen are keeping watch in the areas located in
the districts bordering Nepal," Director General of Police
Anand Shankar said today.

The Union Home Ministry in a letter to the Bihar
government had informed about the intelligence inputs about
the escape routes of the militants, who carry a cash reward of
Rs 50,000 each on their head, official sources said.

The militants had fled from the hospital on January 2.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has alerted all the
airports in Bihar and banned the entry of visitors inside the
Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna and Gaya
international airport ahead of Republic Day.

The Union Home Ministry had recently asked all security
agencies concerned to heighten security at important
government installations, they said.
