ASI dies of cardiac arrest on duty in Gaya

An ASI on duty died due to cardiac arrest at a police station in the Vishnupad temple in Bihar`s Gaya district, police said on Wednesday.

Gaya: An Additional Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) on duty died due to cardiac arrest at a police station in the Vishnupad temple in Bihar`s Gaya district, police said on Wednesday.

The ASI Deepak Prasad suffered a massive heart attack while on duty at the temple last night and died on the spot, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nishant Kumar Tiwari said.

A police officer of 1994 batch, Prasad had served the Bihar police with distinction and was posted at a temporary police station set up at the Vishnupad temple to supervise `Pitripaksha` mela, he said.

A guard of honour was given to the departed cop at the police lines which was attended among others by the Magadh range DIG Bachchu Singh Meena and others, Tiwari said.

A native of Uttar Pradesh, Prasad`s body will be sent to Lucknow for cremation, he said.
