Patna: Bihar government has decided to set up a dedicated work force, called the Accredited Statistical Volunteers (ASVs), to carry out various survey works in Bihar, according to state Planning and Development Minister NN Yadav today.
The ASVs will be well versed in statistics and carry out survey works with accuracy, he told reporters.
The deployment of ASVs will relieve the government school teachers of additional duties from survey and census workers and enable them to dedicate themselves to education works, Yadav said.
Elaborating further, the Principal Secretary (Planning and Development) Vijay Prakash said that a pool of three lakh eligible persons with specialization in science and commerce at Class XII level will be created as the ASVs and they will be trained by the Statistical Directorate before requisitioned to conduct survey works and census.
The ASVs will be required to conduct survey works ranging from crop samples to cross crop cutting and compile date on a tablet to give a clear picture about productivity of a particular crop, he said.
Prakash said that applications have been invited on E-Mails in order to set up a data base of the ASVs so that the volunteers could be made available on requirement.
