Jamui: A branch manager and an accountant of a nationalised bank, who were kidnapped from Bihar's Jamui district were released by their abductors, the police said on Wednesday.
Both bank officials were posted at Rajla branch of Canara Bank under Jhajha police station of the district and the kidnappers had reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh for their release.
"The kidnappers released branch manager Om Prakash Paswan and accountant Ranjeet Kumar near the hills located north of Rajla railway halt late last night. Both officials reached Rajla and local residents brought them to the Jhajha police station," Jhajha Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Siyasharan Gupta said.
The DSP said the abductors were forced to release the two officials due to continuous pressure of police raids in the district.
"The criminals understood that they will not be able to hide any longer or secure the ransom," he added.
Paswan and Kumar have been united with their families and both of them were being questioned by the police for more information about their abductors.
