Bihar CM earns Centre`s praise
Union Minister of State V Narayanasamy said the Centre would soon bring Citizen Grievance and Public Service Delivery bill.
Patna: Union Minister of State V Narayanasamy on Thursday praised the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar and said the Centre would soon bring Citizen Grievance and Public Service Delivery bill to curb corruption and provide utility services to the people within a stipulated time-frame.
"We have received good reports about the function of Nitish government in many areas, including in the field of administrative reforms," the MoS for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions told reporters on the sidelines of a conference `Reforms for Citizen-centric Governance` here.
Speaking about the Right to Service Act implemented by the state government from August 15, he noted there was a lot of scope for improvement and amendments to the Act.
"It is just a beginning and many more services have to be covered under the
legislation," he said.
The Centre will bring a comprehensive Public Service Delivery and Citizen Grievances Bill which would cover all public utility services with "full transparency and accountability" in public service delivery and administration within a stipulated time-frame.
While the Lokpal would deal with the corruption in bureaucracy, the Citizen Grievances bill, likely to be tabled in the Winter Session of Parliament, would strictly deal with corruption at lower level, he said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had already issued the directive and his department was working on it, Narayanasamy said.
