Patna: A delegation of backward classes on Friday met Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and urged him to instal a statue of social worker and freedom fighter RL Chandapuri in the state capital.
The delegation also requested the CM to provide land and building to a social studies research organisation run in the name of Chandapuri, a release from All India Backward Classes Federation said here.
The visiting members presented several books written by Chandapuri to the CM.
Chandapuri was a social worker who had worked closely with Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose and BR Ambedkar.
Federation president Indra Kumar Chandapuri said in the release that the CM assured them to look into the request.
