Bihar: Emoluments of `Vikas Mitras` raised

The pay hike would be applicable to all the 500 `Vikas Mitras`, Kumar said while addressing a function organised for BR Ambedkar`s birth anniversary.

Patna: The emoluments of `Vikas Mitras`, working to reach the benefits of development projects to the Dalits in Bihar, was hiked from Rs 4000 to Rs 5000 per month Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Saturday.

The pay hike would be applicable to all the 500 `Vikas Mitras`, Kumar said while addressing a function organised for BR Ambedkar`s birth anniversary here.

The state government had launched a programme to ensure literacy of women of each of the Mahadalit families and the initial target was to make eight women of that category literate every year, he said.

The state government had also launched `Mukhya Mantri Shatabdi Mahadalit Vikas Yojna` for providing drinking water, toilets, drainage and road for the areas of extremely backward mahadalits.

The state government was providing stipends to children belonging to SC and ST from standard-I and Rs 456 crore was allocated for the purpose during 2011-12,he said.

He lauded the role of Mahadalit Uplift Centres for helping the children of Mahadalit families for admission to schools and even the central government had acclaimed the process of indentification of Mahadalits.
