Bihar JD(U) leader Ram Badan Rai joins BJP

JD(U) Extremely Backward Castes (EBC) cell president Ram Badan Rai on Saturday joined the BJP with his supporters.

Patna: JD(U) Extremely Backward Castes (EBC) cell president Ram Badan Rai on Saturday joined the BJP with his supporters.

"All development work has stopped in Bihar. Law and Order have failed. I and all EBC people are now with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and we will take the state to greater heights," said Rai, after joining the BJP.

He said he is now free from the clutches of JD(U) which was functioning as if it was a gang, said the former Member of Legislative Council.

Welcoming Rai to the party, state BJP president Mangal Pandey said his presence would provide new energy and strength to the party and help Bihar get rid of persons who are operating gangs in the name of politics.

"The political engineering of (senior JD-U leader) Nitish Kumar has failed on all fronts. He could not even muster courage to go to Jharkhand for election campaign. His political life is getting over and his status has been relegated to that of a house breaker," Pandey said.

Claiming that over 50 JD(U) MLAs were willing to join BJP leaving Kumar more worried than ever, he said Kumar was trying to remove Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi by backstage machinations.
