Patna: Over 80,000 lawyers across Bihar
stayed away from work for the third day on Thursday in response to
the five-day strike called by Bihar State Bar Council opposing
the idea of evening courts.
Council chairman B P Sharma claimed that the strike was
total and paralysed work in Patna High Court as well as
The Bar council general body had denounced the
continuation of the evening courts despite repeated requests.
The apex body of advocates are also protesting violation
of notification and transfer of cases to evening courts
without consent of the contesting party.
The council will meet presidents and general secretaries
of all bar associations in the state on February 19 to take
stock of the situation, official sources said.
