Bihar oppn demands CBI probe into CAG findings

Opposition created an uproar in the Assembly demanding CBI probe into non-reconciliation of Abstract Contingent (AC) bills.

Patna: Opposition RJD-LJP MLAs today
created an uproar in the Bihar Assembly demanding CBI probe
into non-reconciliation of Abstract Contingent (AC) bills with
Detailed Contingent (DC) bills worth Rs 22,575.37 crore, as
reported by the CAG.

After holding demonstration outside the assembly
holding posters and banners, agitated RJD-LJP members entered
the premises and trooped into the well of the house shouting
anti-government slogans disrupting the proceedings of the
house before the lunch recess.

They demanded that a CBI probe be ordered for
non-submission of DC bills with respect to withdrawals of
22,575.37 crores through AC bills in Bihar as highlighted by
the reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for
the period ending March 31, 2011.

Earlier they stood in their seats before trooping into
the well when the speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary took up the
question hour.
The opposition members continued shouting slogans in
the well in support of the demand.

The speaker refused to take up the adjournment notice
by senior RJD MLA Samrat Choudhary but assured the agitated
members of looking into the adjournment notice at an
appropriate time.

In the meantime, parliamentary affairs minister
Bijendra Prasad Yadav intervened and ridiculed the opposition
members for raising the demand of CBI probe today when the CAG
report was tabled in the house yesterday.
