Patna: Altogether 46 people were arrested
in the last phase of panchayat polls in Bihar which saw an
estimated 58.8 per cent voter turnout.
The last phase of elections were held in 42 panchayats,
including in Maoist-infested blocks in Jamui, Aurangabad and
Director General of Police Neelmani said the polls were
held amidst tight security and 46 people were arrested for
trying to disrupt polling in the four Maoist-infested blocks.
A landmine planted by Maoists was also recovered in
Nimiatand in Gaya district, he said.
Earlier, the Maoists had given a call for boycotting the
panchayat elections in Bihar.
