Patna: 110 candidates filed their poll
nominations on Wednesday for the first and second phase of Bihar
Assembly elections, while the State Election Commission
changed returning officers for 16 Assembly constituencies.
The filing of the nominations gained momentum during
the day with some parties releasing their list of candidates
for the polling on October 21 and 24.
"We have received information of about 50 persons
submitting their documents for the first phase of polls in 47
seats and 60 people for the second phase of polls in 45
constituencies notification for which has been issued by
Election Commission," Additional Chief Electoral Officer
Prominent among those who filed their papers for the
polls were senior ministers Renu Kumari (Bihariganj) and
Narendra Narain Yadav (Alamnagar).
So far, 61 persons have filed their nominations for
the first phase, notification for which was issued on Monday.
The last date for filing nominations for the phase is
October 4 and scrutiny is scheduled for the next day. The last
date of withdrawal is October 7.
Notification for the second phase of polls was issued
during the day.
The last date of filing papers and for its withdrawal
is October 6 and 9, respectively, the officer said.
