Bihar assembly speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary asked all the members of the house to declare their moveable and immovable assets as it had become necessary for the representatives to maintain transparency in public life.

Patna: Bihar assembly speaker Uday Narayan
Choudhary on Thursday asked all the members of the house to declare
their moveable and immovable assets as it had become necessary
for the representatives to maintain transparency in public
life.

Reading out a resolution, the speaker said the leaders of
all the political parties in the house during a debate were
unanimous in their view that elected representatives in
a parliamentary system should maintain transparency in public
life.

Choudhary said "All the MLAs have already submitted the
details of their assets in the format prescribed by the
Election Commission at the time of contesting the elections
(during nominations) in October-November 2010".

"The members are being suggested to make available the
details of the assets they possess to the assembly secretariat
by December 31 every year from this year", he said.

The Vidhan Sabha website would have all the details of
their assets for public, Choudhary said amid thumping of desks
by the ruling NDA members.
