Patna: Suspended JD(U) MLC Shambhu Sharan Srivastava on Thursday resigned from Bihar Legislative Council and primary membership of the party charging the leadership with being "insensitive and autocrat" .

Srivastava submitted his resignation to the Chairman of the Council TK Jha.

His term as the member of the state Legislative Council expires in May 2012.

Later, talking to reporters, Srivastava, a founder-member of the erstwhile Samata Party, said he had also tendered resignation from the primary membership of JD(U).

"I have sent my resignation from party's primary membership to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for acceptance," Srivastava, who was suspended from the party for anti-party activities, said.

He accused the party of "deviating" from the objectives of fighting the "jungle raj, anarchy and chaos unleashed during the RJD regime".

"Rampant corruption prevails in Bihar now and large-scale migration of workforce is taking place," he said.

In his future course of action, Srivatava said he would work towards putting in place a "healthy alternative" by mobilising leftist, progressive and secular forces in future.
