Ranvir Sena founder killed; high alert in Bihar Ara: The chief of Ranvir Sena, the dreaded private militia of 'upper caste' landowners, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Friday while he was on a morning walk triggering violence during which the Bihar DGP was roughed up.

Five private and government vehicles were set on fire in the violence that broke out in the district headquarter town of Ara in Bhojpur district after the killing of Brahmeshwar Singh alias 'Mukhiya ji', police said. Singh was in his early 70s.

Curfew was clamped in Ara after the shooting but it was lifted in the afternoon following a high-level review of the situation by senior state officials. The situation in the district was described as tense but under control.

Director-General of Police Abhayanand, who is camping at the spot, was roughed up and heckled by local people who charged him with failure to provide security to Singh, who was also the founder of the banned outfit.

Singh was taking a stroll when six unidentified gunmen armed with sophisticated weapons pumped several bullets into him, killing him on the spot at Katira Mohalla under Nawada police station, 71 kms from Patna, police said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appealed for calm and said investigations were underway to trace the killers.

The DGP constituted a high-level team led by Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajitabh Kumar to expedite the probe into the killing and submit a report within a month.

"Guilty won't be spared," Abhayanand said.

Singh, who faced life imprisonment in several cases of carnage he had perpetrated on the lower caste landless poor, including in Laxmanpur Bathe where 61 Dalits were massacred in December, 1996, was acquitted and released from jail in April this year.

Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC would remain in force, sub-divisional police officer Dharmesh Kumar said.

The main opposition parties RJD, Congress and LJP demanded a CBI probe into the incident. As the news of the killing spread, hundreds of Sena supporters gathered at the site of the killing and shouted anti-government slogans.

The Sena men also tried to chase policemen, including the superintendent of police, who had arrived at the spot and later clashed with policemen.

RAJESH KUMNAR - PATNA
It`s realy very sad news for Growing Bihar Rising Bihar, the perception about upper caste like BHUMIHAR this is the mind setup and brain brass by some poltical leaders that Bhumihar is Dangerous than Cobra to Dalit Society, But Fact is very Differrent, Bumihar Ho Ya Chamar Jab Kisi ki Hatya Hoti Hai to Marne Wala Kisi Ka Pita, Kisi Ka Pati, Kisi Ka Bhai, Kisi Ka Chacha Ya Kisi Ka Mama Hota Hai, It`s Possible to Internal Local Politics because Next Year MP Election is coming. Situion is really very serious and this is the Challange to CM-Bihar. We pray to God for Mukhiya Ji ke Atma Shanti Ke Liye and Request to MukhiyaJi Family & His well wishers first investigate What`s the facts ? Please Unke Atma Shanti Ke Liye Prarthana Kijiye, Aur Aage Aisi Koi Ghatna Na Ho Ki Doosre Ko Usse Jaan Maal Ka Nuksaan Ho.

A septuagenarian has been killed during morning walk and the incidence is portrayed as a criminal`s murder. The person had undergone court trial and he had spent 9 long years in jail. In this story line why the media is digging the history and highlighting the number of people murdered in different attacks. This is merely to sensationalize the issue for higher TRP. Most of the media houses are in this mad rat race. Why you people have forgotten large scale carnages of farmers by the ultras those days and then political regime was deaf ear and was trying to get benefit of the outcome. That was the only reason to raise a voice from an organized platform. I personally do not favour tit for tat philosophy and do have faith in our judicial system. Media should restrain itself while depicting some caste name while portraying a person as a criminal still the cases are subjudice and no one has any right to say him criminal unless court declares so. All most all members of that particular caste are not murderers and to mind you self defence is every citizen`s constitutional right in Indian democratic system. Please do not make the whole community responsible for a person`s doing, if perceived wrong by some unauthorized people.

Have some respect while editing your news, few things may be wrong in the eyes of law, we never support killing, and we are the simple farmers, but self respect, self defense, social acceptance. this was a history, he was in prison for last 10 years, his values are never wrong, he gave his whole life for us, people who follow the path might have somewhat deviated from the values and principles, but it does not mean that the core principle and ideology was not in general farmer`s interest, he organized farmers for their self defense even when the administration failed to protect their property and livelihood, he was a one of the few good one in our race called BHUMIHAR.
