Patna: Bihar will soon become an
electricity surplus state going by the construction of a
number of power plants across the state, Deputy Chief
Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said on Saturday.
As many as 19 proposals for power plants were under
consideration of the state government even as a number of
power plants were undergoing construction of renovation which
would soon make the state electricity surplus, he said while
inaugurating the `Bihar Times Conclave 2010.
The state government was open to more proposals from
the public and private sector for investment in the power
sector and said that it would act as a facilitator for
providing infrastructure for the interested developments, Modi
said.

He urged the Centre to provide coal linkage for power
generation in the state at the earliest.
