Bihar to extend retirement of univ teachers to 65

CM Nitish Kumar said the state government will soon take a decision on extending the retirement age of university teachers.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said the state government will soon take a decision on extending the retirement age of university teachers from 62 to 65 years.

It was the need of the hour to extend the retirement age of the university teachers from 62 to 65 years, he said in the legislative council in reply to a question raised by the JD(U) MLC Narendra Prasad Singh.
The state government will take a decision in the matter very soon, Kumar said and recalled that the state government has, from time to time, expressed its intention in both houses of the state legislature for increasing the retirment age of the university and college teachers.
Kumar said "Certain glitches in extending the retirement age of university and colleges teachers have been caused by pendency of ligitations in the courts on the issue".
