Patna: Assuring Bihar of all help in tackling the Maoist problem, Union Home Secretary RK singh on Friday said the Centre would provide three additional battalions of central paramilitary forces and a helicopter to the state.

Talking to reporters after a meeting with top state officials here, Singh said, "We have decided to engage three additional battalions of central paramilitary forces and a helicopter in combing operations against the naxalites."

Two more districts, Munger and Kaimur, would be added under the integrated action plan launched for naxal hit districts in the state, Singh said after the meeting attended by chief secretary Navin Kumar, home secretary Amir Subhani, DGP Abhayanand and others.

"Apart from integrated action plan, we will include districts like Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Banka, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, Begusarari and Sheohar under Special Security Expenditure scheme for purchase of security related resources," the union home secretary said.

Appreciating the anti-naxalite operations being carried out in the state, Singh said "Bihar has achieved remarkable success in fight against naxalites. Several top naxal leaders have been arrested and more than 21 naxalites have been killed during the operations, said Singh who was on a two-day visit to Bihar.

Refusing to set a time frame for ending the menace, he stressed the need for consistent operations against them. On the reported expansion of Naxal activities in Bihar, he said it was a big danger and he was not in a position to spell out the reasons.

He, however, said development works would help lower the problems relating to naxalites.
