"Result of Bihar eletions are historic. The people have handed over a crushing defeat to communal forces, led by BJP and Prime Minister Narenrdra Modi, which were disturbing harminy by sowing seeds of hatered," Leader of Opposition in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Swami Prasad Maurya told PTI.

The BSP leader said, "With the power of vote, the people of Bihar has crushed comunal force like Bihar. This is BJP's second defeat after Delhi, but it has not learned any lesson. This election was contested directly under the leadership of Narendra Modi and he held 40-45- rallies there, but even after that the manner in which people have rejected them he (Modi) should introspect."

"Lalu and Nitish's victory is the victory of democratic values. Modi made populist promises, but he misreably failed in fulfilling them. At last BJP was left with polarisation of votes as the last weapon, which was rejected by the people," Swami said.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Health Minister Rajendra Singh Rathore said the result trends are "shocking" and "disappointing" for BJP led NDA.

"Castism has played a vital role in polarizing the votes in favor of the Grand Alliance," Rathore told PTI.
